FACT: The Bark Scor­pi­on (Cen­truroi­dies) is the most com­mon type of scor­pi­on in the Amer­i­can South­west. When it stings, it employs a potent neu­ro­tox­in. Pain may last for hours or days. If stung, the best prac­tice is to take pain med­ica­tion. How­ev­er if you do begin to have symp­toms of agi­ta­tion and res­pi­ra­to­ry paral­y­sis, do seek med­ical attention.

Con­trary to pop­u­lar belief, there has NEVER been a report­ed fatal­i­ty in the Unit­ed States from a Bark Scor­pi­on sting.
