TRAIL: Tiny Trail
LENGTH: 2 miles RT
DIFFICULTY: Moderate due to altitude gain.
Tiny Trail
DESCRIPTION: This hike goes from the ridge on Santa Clara Divide Road to the Peak of Magic Mountain. You can proceed through a sometimes locked gate to the top of Magic Mountain, and continue on to the Old Miner’s Trail for a more extended and challenging hike.

This trail doubles as the access road for the towers and other facilities at the peak of Magic Mountain. Often, the gate to this road is open, however, sometimes the road is closed, and the gate is locked. Either way, for a short easy hike with a family, you can park at the base of the two roads, and hike to the top, a distance of less than one mile, but an increase in elevation of a couple hundred feet. From the top, the views of the Santa Clara River Valley are spectacular.

On a clear day, you can see the peak of the Tehachapi’s to the north, and several of the higher peaks in the San Gabriel Range to the east.
HOW TO GET TO THE TRAILHEAD: Exit SR 14 at Sand Canyon Road. Proceed South on Sand Canyon. Continue on Sand Canyon into the Angeles Forest. Look for a hairpin turn to the left marked Santa Clara Divide Road. If you reach the point where Sand Canyon becomes Little Tujunga Road, you have gone too far. Turn left at Santa Clara Divide Road. Follow it to the gate. Park and walk up the hill for great views!
